We’re delighted to have designed and developed the website for the inaugural Stephen Lawrence Day, to be held on 22nd April 2019. This annual event, run by the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, is designed to celebrate Stephen’s legacy and help inspire and enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to fulfil their potential.
Inequality is one of the most pressing issues of our time, with a recent study showing that it is increasing in the UK. Stephen Lawrence, who was murdered in an unprovoked racist attack in 1993, was an example of someone who was bucking that trend. As a young person of colour, he faced numerous institutional and societal barriers to achieving his dreams, yet this bright, driven man was determined to become an architect – and was well on the way to doing so at the time of his death.
Stephen Lawrence Day 2019 will be a forward-looking event focused on the positive role we can all play in reducing inequality.
The website provides resources for schools, communities and other members of the public who want to see what they can do to raise awareness and create a fairer society.
Our design is bright and welcoming, using Stephen’s favourite colour of orange as its starting point and incorporating a pattern as a repeating element. The site’s layout is intuitive, with a carefully designed resource listing that allows specific user groups to find relevant materials as quickly and easily as possible.
