The independent assessment was conducted by Sec-Ops, a CREST Accredited certification body and demonstrates Fat Beehive’s commitment to guarding against the most common cyber threats. Cyber Essentials provides a useful framework for us to communicate our security approach with clients, suppliers and regulators in the UK and globally. By certifying our security practices against Cyber Essentials, our clients will have additional confidence about Fat Beehive’s efforts to protect their data and our compliance with GDPR.
Cyber Essentials is a UK government assurance scheme, based on its 10 Steps to Cyber Security and is administered by the NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre). This certification is in addition to our ISO 27001 achieved in 2018.
The government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2018 found that 56% of businesses hold personal data electronically. Of these, 47% experienced breaches or attacks in the last 12 months.
Since the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and DPA (Data Protection Act) 2018 came into effect, all organisations that process personal data must implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure its security.
Implementing the Cyber Essentials controls is recognised by the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) as one of many ways that organisations can take action to mitigate the risks they face.
