Creating a bold new website for We the Curious

Keith McDonnell

Dedicated to inspiring curiosity and making science accessible to all, We the Curious needed a new website to reflect their mission.

A digital space that sparks curiosity

We’re thrilled to share our latest collaboration with We the Curious, Bristol’s leading science and educational charity, as we launch their dynamic new website.

We the Curious is dedicated to inspiring curiosity and making science accessible to all. However, their previous website was held back by complex navigation, accessibility challenges, and a lack of engaging storytelling – barriers that made it harder for visitors to fully connect with their mission.

Our goal was to create a website that matched the energy, creativity, and inclusivity of We the Curious.

Bright, bold designs

Simplifying the experience

Through a deep discovery phase, including stakeholder interviews and UX workshops, we identified key areas for improvement:

  • A clearer, more intuitive navigation to help visitors easily explore events, educational resources, and interactive exhibits.
  • A fully accessible design built to WCAG 2.2 standards, ensuring an inclusive experience for all users.
  • Compelling storytelling that highlights We the Curious’ impact on education, the community, and science.
  • Improved user journeys on the website, directing users to their revamped ticketing system and boosting engagement.

Clearer navigation, improved user journeys

A seamless and future-ready platform

Beyond the launch, we’ve equipped the We the Curious team with an easy-to-manage platform that allows them to update content, showcase new exhibits, and keep their digital experience fresh. Future integrations and ongoing UX improvements will ensure the site continues to evolve.

“Our new website designed by the Fat Beehive team looks fabulous, and we’re already getting loads of great feedback – within an hour of its launch! This is a momentous occasion for all of us at We the Curious, so I want to thank everyone who played their part at Fat Beehive in bringing this to fruition. We’re chuffed to bits.” Rachel Wood, Head of Marketing, We the Curious.

We’re incredibly proud to have partnered with We the Curious on this transformation, and we can’t wait to see how their new website inspires curiosity in even more people.
