SafeLives approached us to create a dynamic new website that would reflect their mission and amplify survivor voices.

A mission to end domestic abuse

SafeLives is a UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse for everyone, for good. They collaborate with organisations across the UK to transform the response to domestic abuse at local, national, and societal levels. Central to their approach is amplifying survivor voices, recognising victims as experts by experience, and ensuring support services meet their needs.

SafeLives employs evidence-based research to develop effective strategies for prevention, intervention, and recovery, and provides training to professionals to deliver trauma-informed support.

Vital information and resources

The SafeLives website is structured to provide comprehensive information and resources:

  • About Domestic Abuse: Offers insights into the nature of domestic abuse, including definitions, statistics, and guidance on supporting affected individuals.
  • Training and Services: Details various training programmes and services available for professionals and organisations, aiming to enhance the response to domestic abuse.
  • Resources for Professionals: Provides a library of materials, including research reports, toolkits, and best practice guidelines to support practitioners in the field.
  • Research and Policy: Features the latest research findings and policy initiatives, highlighting SafeLives’ efforts to influence systemic change.
  • Survivor Voices: Showcases stories and experiences from survivors, emphasising the importance of their perspectives in shaping effective interventions.

Creating a bold new website

SafeLives approached us to create a dynamic new website that would reflect their mission and amplify survivor voices. Recognising that their existing site was overdue for an overhaul, SafeLives needed a modern platform that better showcased their extensive resources, training, and evidence-based research while providing accessible pathways for diverse audiences, including professionals, policymakers, and survivors.

Our unique approach

Our approach began with a comprehensive discovery phase, gathering insights from stakeholders, analytics, and audience workshops. This research shaped a streamlined, user-focused design featuring a unified resource library, tailored user journeys, and an accessible interface. Particular care was taken to ensure the website adheres to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, ensuring usability for all. We also introduced intuitive navigation, vibrant visuals, and clear calls to action, empowering users to find training, research, or support efficiently.

Fantastic results

The result is a website that not only meets SafeLives’ goals of increasing engagement and raising awareness, but also embodies their values of inclusivity and innovation. By connecting users to vital resources and survivor stories, their new website plays a crucial role in advancing SafeLives’ vision of a society free from domestic abuse.
